Amy Smart was an American model as well as actress. Born and brought up in California USA she started her modeling profession in Italy. She made her acting debut at the age of 16 in the TV movie Her Costly Affair. It was a struggle to land a small role on Starship Troopers. It was very difficult when she had to change between modeling and acting because the models were never considered to be good actors, and they were usually assigned smaller roles that were insignificant. Amy was determined to keep trying. She climbed the ladder into bigger roles, beginning in The 70s series and Varsity Blues film. Amy was then promoted to lead parts in 2005's love story Just Friends starring Ryan Reynolds. The film was a major box office success and Amy was finally able to get the success she'd been seeking for more than 10 years. Amy was in several big movies in the Crank trilogy with Jason Statham. And she had a part in a series of recurring roles on the Shameless series.
