Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's existence includes football scholarships, family involvement and involvement in the community. In the first place, he was brought up by Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on the farm close to Eufala in Oklahoma as one of the nine children they had. He played football with three of his brothers for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the country by Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. He was awarded two championships as well as 32-1-1 in his three seasons as Oklahoma's main man. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout college. After graduating, Lee Roy settled in Tampa where he spent nine years playing for the Buccaneers. 3 times, he was named All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. In 1988, he began working as an Account Relation Manager for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him in 1982 as being one of the top 10 youths in the US. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs during his time playing college football. In 1975, he was on the team. team. In 1993 he joined the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave an award of the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
